Unique in Britain, this 12 piece orchestra will take you on a musical journey from the dawn of ragtime (Scott Joplin, Joseph Lamb and James Scott) through the hot dance and jazz music of the 1920's (King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton) to the early swing era of the 1930's (exemplified by Duke Elington). Using original period arrangements and carefully researched transcriptions fom the original recordings, the New Century Ragtime Orchestra authentically recreates the music of a bygone age, featuring the lovely Caroline Irwin and the youthful Jim McBriaty on a number of period vocals. The whole show is humorously presented by tenor sax star Steve Andrews. Featured to critacal acclaim at the Edinburgh, Keswick,Whitley Bay, Ayr and Kirkcudbright Jazz festivals, the band is always busy and are preparing to record a new CD
